Ronhar Kim - Page 2

At the funeral, Palpatine introduced himself to Ronhar and expressed his hope that he could live up to his father's legacy. Dejected, Ronhar had been occupied with feelings that perhaps he should leave the Jedi Order and follow in his footsteps. But Palpatine soothed Ronhar's concerns offering his hand in friendship through his journey as a politician. Palpatine insisted that the two could be of use to each other: Ronhar would be have an influence in galactic politics, while Palpatine would have the personal insight into the wisdom of Jedi Order. And while seemingly Palpatine's gesture seemed to be one of compassion, it was simply the beginning of the Sith Lord's plan to use Ronhar Kim to his own ends.

Twenty years later, Ronhar Kim had attained the rank of Jedi Master and taken on a Padawan, a Cerean named Tap-Nar-Pal. Senator Palpatine had just become Chancellor, and the two were closer than ever. One day, as Ronhar was walking and talking with Palpatine on his way to a meeting, Palpatine mentioned that some of the reforms he was pushing through had produced a lot of enemies in opposition to the reforms with some of the opposition coming with death threats. As chance would have it an assassination attempt was made as the two walked the halls of the Senate Chambers. The Royal Guard legions had been compromised, and assassins disguised as blue-robed protectors attacked the Chancellor.

Ronhar Kim managed to protect Palpatine from the attack and take out both of the guards. Before he could question the surviving guard, the assassin killed himself with an lethal injection, the same scenario Master Kim had seen twenty years before during the assassination of his father. Even the means of injection, the syringe, was the same. The Chancellor used the assassination attempt to push for the allowance that he could have his own, personal body guards of his choosing. Under the guise that they would be less susceptible to infiltration and betrayal. Looking back, it would appear that Palpatine used both assassinations to further the steps necessary for his plan. The first to obtain the rank of Senator and the second to remove himself from the prying eyes of the generic Senate guards, allowing more privacy in all his dealings.

Ten years later, Ronhar Kim and Tap-Nar-Pal found themselves in the midst of the Clone Wars. Not content to simply fight battle after battle, the two concerned themselves with how the war might be stopped. Count Dooku, leader of the Separatists, told Obi-Wan Kenobi that the Senate was being controlled by a Sith Lord. Kim and his Padawan surmised that if the Sith Lord could be discovered and eliminated, the war might come to a quicker end. Realizing that a Sith Lord would have to have a high midichlorian count, Ronhar and Tap-Nar-Pal came up with the plan to test the senators first. If the Sith in control of the Senate was indeed a senator, than testing the Senators' midichlorian count might reveal the Sith Lord.
